Gartner defines Enterprise Data Architecture (EIA) as the part of the enterprise architecture process that describes – through a set of requirements, principles and models – the current state, future state and guidance necessary to flexibly share and exchange information assets to achieve effective enterprise change.
The Enterprise Data Architect is accountable to the Manager, Enterprise Architecture for leading the planning and implementation of a Data and Analytics Strategy, including the practical application of data and information architectural standards, practices and reference models. This role will leverage a solid understanding of business goals and capabilities, infrastructure, information and application environments in conjunction with the Core Enterprise Architecture team, focusing on information assets that critically support business strategies.
Build strong relationships with the business to ensure Enterprise Data and Analytics Architecture is in alignment with key business strategies and processes
Define current and future state information architecture to support the sharing and exchange of information assets
Develop Enterprise Data and Analytics Architecture artifacts, including principles, models, architecture patterns, and standards
Meet regularly with the business and IT account managers, engaging in strategic planning activities
Keeps appraised of technical and business developments within the industry including: identifying trends, opportunities, and threats relative to SaskPower environment
Review business initiatives for alignment and integration opportunities with strategic initiatives leading to the identification of corporate programs
Advocate Data and Analytics architecture benefits and leading practices within SaskPower, while advising and educating stakeholders as needed
Promote sharing and/or leveraging of Data and Analytics platforms across independent business ventures where a commonality exists, and be able to explain the enterprise benefits of doing so
Collaborates with, and is a member of the core Enterprise Architecture team
5 or more years of progressive experience working in a senior systems development or systems delivery role
Hands-on experience with implementing Data and Analytics management programs
Experience in an organization or business unit as lead role responsible for the overall enterprise Data and Analytics architecture, including oversight of key Data and Analytics projects
In-depth experience of architecting, designing and implementing information, including data and analytics solutions
Experience with establishing and maintaining artifacts such as: Data and Analytics strategies, roadmaps, architecture models, standards, patterns etc.
Understands the SaskPower business environment including customers, collaborators, suppliers, business units and products and services
Demonstrates expert knowledge of architecture frameworks, methodologies and tools. Certification and experience with The Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF) is required
Data Management based certification such as CDMP would be considered an asset
University Degree in Administration and/or IT/Engineering
Ten (10)+ years of cross discipline experience including IT and business
Ability to demonstrate verbal, facilitation, and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated skill in SaskPower's competencies
Must have a continuing record of professional development
